French Pleurant Statue

🌎 Ships to contiguous US only

Replica of a 15th Century French Pleurant statue, an anonymous yet devout mourner, usually one of several which would embellish a tomb. Though wouldn't be surprised if its real purpose was to comfort the deceased and possibly intercede for the person's soul.

While this practice disappeared past the 17th century, it is nonetheless a beautiful gesture, one that can easily be revived even if only to stand next to a deceased's urn or grave stone as a comforter with intercessory prayer, regardless of any particular belief system.

An expression of a compassionate heart is never wasted!
