Handloom Natural Jute Rug
Among other things, an eco-friendly rug, made from sustainable and very durable jute. Local artisans create these natural fiber rugs by hand using a wooden loom. The fibers are first extracted by retting which is the process of bundling jute stems together and immersing them in low, running water. After the retting process, stripping begins where non-fibrous matter is scraped off and fibers found inside the jute stem are retained for weaving, a labor-intensive and time-consuming craft, done entirely by hand.
