I paint from a quiet place where color and spirit meet.
After moving from NYC to San Diego I found myself surrounded by people who felt distant and self-interested and loneliness settled in. When the world grew even heavier during those uncertain 2019~ years, I turned to art as the one thing that still felt real and alive. What started in a couple of painting classes — classes where the teaching offered little warmth or encouragement — became something much deeper for me. I began exploring watercolor, acrylic and mixed media, combining them in ways that felt instinctive rather than planned. I followed where each material and each choice wanted to go, letting the work unfold as its own kind of medicine.
There is no grand theory behind what I make. Each piece grows from deep looking and from simply being present with what is in front of me. Some works stay close to the gentle forms of flowers and leaves. Others gather texture, gold and unexpected layers that ask the eye to linger. Still others move with bolder color and energy that shifts as the light changes. All of them come from the same root: a need to feel grounded when everything else felt uncertain and a quiet hope that beauty and meaning could still be found in daily life.
